I am currently enjoying my grown children for the short time that they have returned to the nest. I set off on my journey of yoga and self-inquiry when they went off to college. I found myself feeling a little lost after having lovingly made my children, my husband and my career my world for so many years. I had earned many wonderful titles during this time and a few were Carly and Tyler’s mom, Roy’s wife, Val and Kim’s little sister, teacher, Mrs. Egrie and so many more. When my oldest went off to college I started to have more time on my hands and I began thinking about what life would be like when my second left. Yoga and meditation was something I always wanted to explore and for years I couldn’t seem to find the time. Now, even though I had the time I still felt hesitation and had no idea where to begin. I questioned so much - am I the right shape and size, do I have the right clothes, can I even do yoga. Way too many questions!! Call it the best mid-life crisis ever and one class led to the next and I threw myself into yoga and meditation and was totally loving the journey. By the time my second went off to college I was already signed up for Yoga Teacher training and that was at the age of 49. Truth is I learned the beauty of BEGINing where I was and continue to do that over and over. Yoga and meditation have changed my life for the better. It is so much more than just the physical postures - yes they are fun and challenging - and most of all they have increased my ability to remain flexible in my life, more resilient to change and an overall happier human being. Meditation has literally kept me sane and centered during the chaotic and most challenging times in my life. Fast forward - to now. Yoga and meditation will forever be a part of my life.
